Sideswipe Toys – Then and Now

Fans were confused when Sideswipe transformed into a silver Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.  Sideswipe has always been red but according to director Michael Bay, red does not photograph very well on film.

So, Revenge of the Fallen gave birth to a new color scheme and vehicle for Sideswipe.  Toys for this Transformer character are quite different due to variations of the body style which makes collecting the figures even more exciting.

Collector’s Toy’s

• 1984 Deluxe Car Sideswipe Generation 1 – This toy was originally part of the Diaclone line before Hasbro released the Transformers.  Since Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were both Lamborghinis, they were considered fraternal twins.

• 1993 Autobot Car Sideswipe Generation 2 – Sideswipe was remodeled slightly and recolored black for this release.

• 1995 Go-Bot Sideswipe Generation 2 – In this release, Sideswipe transformed into a blue Lamborghini Diablo.

• 2001 Spy Changer Sideswipe Robots in Disguise – This small transformable figure was bundled with Prowl 2.

• 2008 Sideswipe with Whisper Timelines Deluxe – In this exclusive series Sideswipe wears a scar across his Autobot symbol located on his chest.  These are very challenging to find.
