Not only is Sentinel Prime a fierce-looking Rosenbauer Panther firetruck, he has braided facial hair to add to his intimidating look.

In Dark of the Moon, Sentinel Prime is said to be not only the predecessor of Optimus Prime but his sole mentor as well however, according to the 1985 Transformers series, Alpha Trion was the original mentor. Makes you wonder if their saving Trion for a future installment one day, right?

Sentinel Prime Description

There is a lot going on in the detail of Sentinel Prime, especially his face, that offers so much personality. The fact that he is a Rosenbauer firetruck makes all the difference in the world! This Austria-based company makes only the most heavy duty, rugged vehicles in the world. This means that anyone on the planet watching Dark of the Moon can quickly relate to just how powerful Sentinel Prime is meant to be.

You can’t help but look at Sentinel Prime and be in awe of the thoughtful wheels on his chest, his long grill that hangs and even the fact that his feet are well worn and scratched, giving the illusion of age and battle.

Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon

Megatron takes a slight backseat to Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon as Sentinel is the leading antagonist in the film. Although the Autobots believe that they discovered the predecessor to Optimus Prime on the moon, they don’t know until later that he had made a deal with the Decepticons some time ago.

Optimus Prime revives Sentinel and he ends up turning on the Autobots soon after, killing Ironhide. Sentinel managed to transport hundreds of his Decepticons to Earth that were previously concealed on the moon. After this, he quickly takes over as the leader as they arrive in Chicago and continue with their plan.

Sentinel Prime had every intention of using all of the resources on Earth in an attempt to rebuild their world. He also planned on enslaving the humans along the way as well.

Optimus and Sentinel engage in battle and he manages to sever off the right arm of Optimus Prime and right before he is ready to deliver the final bow, Megatron intervenes. Despite the fact that they are on the same side, Megatron was afraid that Sentinel Prime would take his position as the Decepticon leader if he was to survive.

However, Optimus kills Megatron and Sentinel begs for his life. While most would expect Optimus to spare him, being the kind and noble Autobot that he is, he surprises everyone and kills Sentinel Prime using Megatron’s cannon.
