Starscream is the Air Commander of the Decepticons. He is also the most deadly of the Seekers. He is well-known for his skill and his unending ambition.

He believes that he would be a more suitable leader than Megatron. His plots for leadership are usually transparent, and his power plays never come to fruition.

On the few occasions where he has gained control of the Decepticons, he loses control of situations quickly, but he won’t lose his sense of arrogance enough to see when he’s gone beyond what he can control. Along with Megatron, he doesn’t learn from any of his mistakes, and he truly believes that his destiny is to rule the Decepticons.

Starscream never gives up, since he has an indestructible, mutant Spark. You cannot destroy his life force, and it can live even without a body to host it. From all indications, Starscream and everyone else was unaware of this, before he was destroyed.

It seems to be Starscream’s lot in life to be deactivated. It happened when he helped to invade the Ark, when he questioned Megatron and when he attempted to undermine Megatron’s command. He was also de-activated after he fought Omega Supreme.

The Decepticons and Autobots attempted to stop Starscream, but they failed, and in the process, many Transformers on Earth were damaged and thus incapacitated by the Underbase rampage of Starscream. The only reason he stopped was that he received a radio transmission between Optimus Prime and Fortress Maximus, and then he realized that Optimus was somewhere else, and was plotting against him. Starscream fled back into space, trying to find Prime, where he instead discovered the Underbase. He tried to absorb all of its power, but the knowledge overwhelmed him, and destroyed him.

Megatron dispatched Decepticons to bring back Starscream’s body from Earth, but they were possessed by the Underbase essense, which rendered them insane. The Underbase regained control, only to have Darkwing and Dreadwind siphon its power, and the corpse of Starscream was returned to a scrap pile, which they collected.

The remains of Starscream were given to Megatron, who then kidnapped Ratchet in order to rebuild Starscream with a Pretender shell. But Ratchet arranged for the mind of Starscream to only be partially suppressed, and he was revived. He was outmatched, so he surrendered and begged for forgiveness.

After he became a Pretender, Starscream was full of self-pity, thinking that the other Decepticons thought he was a joke. Actually, the other Decepticons were afraid of Starscream, and they avoided him. Starscream sulked for a bit, but then he defeated a few Autobots and he began to regain his confidence.

In the Transformers movie, Starscream is a hero, but he’s on the wrong side of the law. He believes that Megatron and Optimus have both lost sight of the ways that are best for the Cybertrons. He thinks there should be a new leader, and he believes it should be him. But with time, he is as corrupt as Megatron, in his own way. So his once-noble goals are buried within his self-interest, and he becomes what he originally despised.
