Megatron in Marvel Comics

According to Marvel Comics, Megatron and his Decepticons were the first to develop transformation and then began a war with the Autobots.  Cybertron became shaken from its orbit, falling into the path of a giant asteroid cluster.  This resulted in a crash onto pre-historic Earth.  In 1984, 4 million years later, the Transformers woke up and Optimus Prime defeated Megatron twice.

While Megatron disappeared from the US comics for a while, he always made an appearance in the United Kingdom which eventually tied the United States back into the storyline.
