Transformer games have been popular since their inception, based as they are on the live action film that came out. You can find various versions of the game that are compatible with PC, Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation 2.

The Nintendo DS versions of Transformer games feature two separate games, one based on the heroes, the Autobots, and one based on the evil Decepticons. Unlike other related games that share most features, these two games have only a few similarities, and each game has its own locations, missions and characters.

The style of Transformer games in its various versions is mainly set up with the player as a third-person shooter. The robots all have four or more ways to attack, by throwing objects, a melee attack, and heavy and light weapons. The Transformer robots can transform into and out of a vehicular state, so this enabled the game designers to include racing features. There are also side missions in the games, using Energon cubes and the emblems of Autobots and Decepticons, which will enable players to unlock special color schemes, as well as production photos and trailers.

The Transformer games for PC, XBox 360 and Playstation 3 all share the same features. The player needs to complete pre-determined objectives to find all the options that are available. Some features on the bonus menu will only show up if you are playing as the character specified in the game version you are using.

Transformers Unlockables is a content that you can download for the Xbox 360. This download will help you to unlock all the character skins, upgrades and other content. The Transformers game on Playstation 2 has the same features and style of play as other versions, but the quality of graphics is lesser than other games.

Unlike the other console games, the Wii uses a different movement and attack scheme that allow the player to move around and interact with the game. If you play with a controller in each hand, you can imitate throwing objects or attacking an enemy. Pointing the Wii remote will also let you aim and fire the weapon. The graphics in the Wii version actually have a lower resolution than the versions you can play on Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

The Transformers game for PSP is much different than the game types that are played on consoles. In the console games, you can decide which storyline from that of all the characters you wish to play. The PSP version has just one storyline, alternating between the different sides.

One player can play twenty different characters, which includes those from games of previous generations. The PSP game actually has more characters you can portray than in any of the console versions, and the story is not related to the stories in the other games.
