Did You Know There are Transformer Games on PC?
War for Cybertron at least brought Transformer games on PC to an acceptable gaming level. Like many PC games, fans are expected to take the good with the, well, not so good. There are definitely some highs and lows in this third-person shooter, flashy format.
The story in War for Cybertron follows the robot’s dream to achieve ultimate power as well as the good guy’s desire to change the evil ways of the bad guys. Like previous Transformer games on PC, the storyline isn’t the most entertaining but this game does offer a few clever touches that brings the characters to life. There are two different campaigns, one allows you to control the Autobots and the other, the Decepticons.
You will find it quite interesting and even thoughtful that the game was created to really experience the difference in their demeanor as well as how they treat each other. This is one of the reasons why this is the best of the Transformer games on PC. You will notice Optimus Prime is quick to say I’m sorry or please but when playing in Decepticon mode, Megatron is almost always disrespectful of his followers and Starscream constantly challenges his authority.
Game Play
Although the 10-level campaign can be finished in about 15 hours, the game definitely feels substantially longer because there is a lot of walking through endless corridors and gunning down non-stop, mindless robots. The core mechanics are definitely done well, allowing for much more responsive moving than previous Transformer games on PC but there are a few locations that almost seem cramped. Since you are unable to fully hide behind every
object, you may think that you’re protected when part of your body is exposed so this is certainly something to be cautious of.
Another challenge in War for Cybertron is rationing your ammo. Whether you are in vehicle or humanoid form, every gun that you fire needs ammo refills which is hard to find in some parts of the game so be mindful of free shooting. The majority of the game entails shooting enemies and it is easy to get lost since many areas look exactly the same.
You will enjoy that there is a scene where you are likely to be taken prisoner and stripped of your weapons but if you 
are skilled enough, you will find one hidden. If you don’t, you may be stuck in the scene long after the fun has worn out.
One of the highlights of War for Cybertron over previous Transformer games on PC is that you have the ability to change into vehicle mode whenever you choose. Some of the highlights are definitely flying in jet mode and there are a few instances where you must be ready to transform in the blink of an eye, just to stay alive.
